7 Steps to Outstanding

7 Steps to Outstanding

Federal Brace has developed a catalog of hundreds of individual products, with various profiles, styles, and uses. Several of these products have been recognized for excellence via publication in nationwide magazines or awards given by numerous well-known industry establishments. In this year, Federal Brace has been awarded multiple awards for new products, displaying the efficacy and talent of their product design & development team. Let’s take a look at how they go about creating the concept for a new product, and, particularly, one that is a winner.

  1. Identify. In order to create a product that has a market and is recognized for it’s innovation and ingenuity, you must first start with a creative idea. Federal Brace always starts with looking at what’s missing from the marketplace. What can they bring to the table and give customers, both returning and new? Sometimes the inspiration for their newest product comes from feedback from designers, who may request “a product that provide support, but be hidden,” resulting in the ever-popular Freedom. Or they may provide tips on how to tweak existing Federal Brace products, creating a better experience for future clientele.

  2. Design. Once the idea has struck, the product has to be designed. Federal Brace works with our product designers, engineers, and research teams to create a product that is both effective in use and pleasing visually and aesthetically. Multiple options are initially presented, but are later evaluated for a variety of specifications.

  3. Evaluation. Taking those initial options, the Federal Brace R&D team evaluates the strengths of each, eventually determining what would be the best model to deliver to their consumer base. The market for the product is also evaluated. If the need and innovation is great enough, the product will always be successful, however, taking this step early-on in the design process can save time that would be wasted if a product is already widely available.

  4. Prototype. Going from a design sketch to a prototype is simple with the assistance of dedicated engineers and a proficient fabricator. Federal Brace uses a variety of metal and wood fabricators throughout the United States, ensuring that each are the best in their craft and provide only the best finished product or prototype to their warehouses across the nation.

  5. Testing. It is in this step that the product is fine-tuned and tested for any weaknesses. Federal Brace undergoes extensive in-house testing to ensure any product offered to customers is not only durable, but supportive to the fullest amount. If any modifications are needed, Federal Brace goes back to the drawing board, creating new designs, doing further evaluations, and ensuring that any prototypes are relentlessly proofed.

  6. Marketing. Once the product is established, Federal Brace establishes their market, looking at past purchasers, the presumed need for the product, and a variety of other factors before coming up with an operational budget and plan for further marketing. This is the final step before...

  7. Launch! Every product must be launched with applause and excitement. While this a meaningful moment, and a lot of work has gone into making it happen, the process is not finished. Every product must be continuously evaluated to see if progress can be made in the design and every single piece that comes out of the fabricators is carefully scoured by Federal Brace’s team to ensure that nothing except perfection is delivered to the designers, customers, and judges that comprise our total product base.

Federal Brace puts time, energy, money, research, and, most importantly, creativity into each product we create, testing for weight capacity, durability, materials, and overall aesthetic. This results in not only award-winning products, which is exciting and celebrated as a win by our research, development, and service teams, but also in delighted customers, which is why we do what we do. Great products, service, and innovation is the backbone of Federal Brace.
